Great Falls Park - General Park Information
At Great Falls, the Potomac River builds up speed and force as it falls over a series of steep, jagged rocks and flows through the narrow Mather Gorge. The Patowmack Canal offers a glimpse into the early history of this country. Great Falls Park has many opportunities to explore history and nature, all in a beautiful 800 acre park only fifteen miles from the Nation's Capital.
Great Falls Park is open daily from 7 a.m. until dark. The Visitor Center is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, with extended hours during the spring and summer months.
Park Fees
$3.00 Individual Pass. Good for three consecutive days for individuals coming into the park on foot, horseback, bicycle, or motorcycle. $5.00 Vehicle Pass. Good for three consecutive days for one vehicle.
Park Passes
$50.00 National Parks Pass. Good for one year in all National Parks $20.00 Great Falls Park Pass. Good for one year at Great Falls Park and C&O National Historical Park in Maryland $10.00 Golden Age Passport. Good for life in all National Parks for U.S. Citizens age 62 and older. Golden Access Passport. Good for life in all National Parks for U.S. Citizens with a permanent disability.
